In honor of Black History Month, the event will focus on the Underground Railroad and Western New York's involvement in the Civil Rights movement. Louise Blanchard Bethune was a trailblazer in the world of architecture. Hear Kelly Hayes McAlonie, AIA share how Bethune became the first woman to join the American Institute of Architects and how she designed Buffalo’s Lafayette Hotel, the 74th Regiment Armory on Virginia Street and many of the city’s school buildings.
