Artifacts: Burchfield Themed Photographs

The Buffalo History Museum is pleased to debut a new exhibit by Jackie Albarella, “Artifacts: Burchfield Themed Photographs." The exhibit includes a series of 16” by 20” photographs Albarella captured that feature collages of ephemera she assembled from renowned watercolorist Charles Burchfield’s life, including paper items, found objects, natural elements and other memorabilia. Albarella will also display some of the collage items. Ms. Albarella grew up next to Burchfield in West Seneca, then moved into the artist’s home when her family purchased it after his death. All are welcome!

Chippewa 1975: Photos by Charles Hahn

While a student at Buffalo’s Park School in 1975, Charles Hahn chose to photograph West Chippewa Street for a school project. Today—nearly fifty years later—his photos of  of the street, its scenes and people, stand in marked contrast to the highly developed entertainment district we know today and call attention to our not-so-distant past. The display also features present-day photos that offer a “then and now” contrast of one of Buffalo’s most recognizable streets. Join us for this exhibit that's nearly 50 years in the making!

History Makers II

In the fall of 2019, The Buffalo History Museum debuted its featured exhibit, History Makers. Inside, guests discovered the stories of eighteen of our community’s most notable or impactful men and women paired with objects and portraits illuminating their story. Three years later, the Museum premiered part two of this series. Featured subjects include John Albright, Glenn Curtiss, Winifred Stanley, William Wells Brown, William Fargo and more than a dozen additional figures from the 18th, 19th, and 20th centuries.
